Commentary on Truck Rollover Accident on CR-1 in Cass County
Folks will no doubt overlook this crash since hitting a deer is pretty unavoidable. It's not like anyone is going to take Mother Nature to court. But there could be another issue here. It stands out to me anytime a commercial truck overturns because there are sometimes issues on a manufacturing level that make would could be a minor crashed a serious or deadly one.
When commercial trucks overturn, they should be able to withstand some damage depending on the seriousness of the wreck. Technology is available which can help protect drivers in crashes like this. Sometimes, however, the roofs cave in because the manufacturer was simply too lazy to build the truck more safely. If this happens, those companies can sometimes be responsible for crashes like this if the injuries were avoidable. Frankly, authorities rarely look into that sort of thing, which is why I can't help wondering if this crash is getting the attention it deserves.
