Gustavo Martinez Killed in Work Fall Accident in Midland, TX
Midland, TX — June 2, 2022, Gustavo Martinez was killed as the result of an accident where he fell at a job site in Midland.
Details from OSHA say that the incident happened at a well site, listed in the reports as "Tubb Vaughn 21 G". Information listed by Midland Reporter-Telegram suggest this site is owned by Pioneer Natural Resources USA Inc. The OSHA inspection detail lists Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co. as the subject of their investigation.

Their reported findings were that 38-year-old Gustavo Martinez Jr. was working to hook up a flow line. While doing so, Martinez somehow fell through a gap, causing him to fall approximately 12 feet. Gustavo Martinez sustained a fatal head injury as a result.
It's unclear at this time if OSHA is enforcing any penalties on the company or companies involved in the incident. Their statements do not give much further information.
