Scott County, AR — November 27, 2024, Howard Dean Canada was killed and Brandon Sosa was injured in a multi-vehicle accident about 9:10 a.m. on U.S. Highway 71.

Authorities said two pickups, one a 2005 Ford F-250 and the other a 2020 Ram 1500, collided when they approached one another near Freedom Creek Road on U.S. 71.

The impact caused the Ram, driven by Brandon Sosa, to spin and crash into the side of a 2023 Mack truck that had been behind the other pickup, according to authorities.

Howard Dean Canada, 83, was the driver of the Ford pickup, police said. He died in the crash.

Brandon Sosa, 32, was transported to a Fort Smith hospital, authorities said. No additional details about his condition have been released at this time.

The crash is being investigated by the Arkansas State Police.
