Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When it comes to single-vehicle wrecks, it's important to take early details with a couple grains of salt. The reality is authorities have a lot on their plates, and they sometimes treat single-vehicle accident investigations as a low priority. This can result in shallow or haphazard investigations, which is why I get so many calls from folks worried their side of the story isn't being told fairly.
For that reason, independent investigations can be a vital tool for victims and families. They generally bring a lot more experience and better tools to the table. With that, they can help ensure either that authorities did a good job in their investigations already or that there is more to the story the authorities overlooked or got wrong. Either way, letting the evidence speak for itself is a prudent path forward for anyone.
