Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Out in more rural areas like this, it can be challenging to ensure there is a proper accident reconstruction. While authorities may have less on their plates to divide their attention, they often lack the funding departments in bigger cities get. That sometimes means they lack the state-of-the-art equipment and special training that is sometimes necessary if something unusual contributes to an accident.
It's another reason independent investigations are vital tool to keep in mind after accidents like this. If those involved in this accident feel the answers coming forward are fair and thorough, then authorities likely did a good job here. But if there are still unanswered questions and doubts, there may be slack that independent investigators need to pick up.
