Jacoby Dywayne Larue Mahome Killed, 1 Injured in Single-vehicle Accident on U.S. 290 in Austin, TX
UPDATE (April 5, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify what happened during this accident. According to these reports, the weather and road conditions in the area at the time were rainy and wet. 30-year-old Jacoby Dywayne Larue Mahome and a 27-year-old woman were traveling in a westbound Chevy Malibu along U.S. 290 in the vicinity south of Tuscany way.
Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Malibu failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered left, crossing into the shoulder on the south side of the roadway and crashing into a guardrail. The vehicle came to rest in the left-most lane of the highway.
Mahome incurred fatal injuries as a result of the wreck and was declared deceased at the scene. The woman from the Malibu sustained apparently moderate injuries, as well, and was transported by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. The investigation continues.
Austin, TX — March 15, 2024, one person was killed and another was injured in a single-car accident at approximately 6:15 a.m. along U.S. 290.
According to authorities, the accident took place in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 290 in the vicinity of Tuscany Way.

The causal factors that led to the crash are still unclear. Officials indicate that only one vehicle was involved in the incident. One of the victims incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the wreck and was declared deceased at the scene. A second victim sustained suspected severe injuries; they were transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
