James Siecko Killed, 4 Injured in Car Accident on S.H. 359 in Jim Wells County, TX
Jim Wells County, TX — December 5, 2024, James Siecko was killed and four others were injured in a car accident at about 3:00 p.m. along State Highway 359.
According to authorities, 55-year-old James Siecko was traveling in a southwest bound Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck on S.H. 359 approaching the Farm to Market 534 intersection when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northeast bound Ford F-150 on the highway attempted a left turn onto the Farm to Market road at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic. This resulted in a collision with the southwest bound Dodge. Also involved in the wreck was a northeast bound Infiniti.
The Dodge reportedly overturned over the course of the accident; Siecko sustained fatal injuries, according to reports, and was declared deceased at the scene. All others involved—one from the Ford and three from the Infiniti—incurred suspected minor injuries and were transported to area medical facilities by EMS in order to receive treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When a crash results in a fatality and multiple injuries, a thorough investigation is essential to uncover how and why it occurred. In my experience, incidents involving complex vehicle interactions require careful attention to three critical questions.
First, did the authorities thoroughly investigate the crash? A failure to yield the right-of-way during a left turn is one of the most common causes of intersection collisions, but the circumstances leading to such an error are rarely simple. Investigators should examine the scene for evidence such as skid marks, debris patterns, and the vehicles’ final positions to reconstruct the sequence of events. Witness accounts and any available traffic or surveillance footage could provide valuable context, particularly regarding the Ford F-150’s actions before making the turn.
Second, has anyone considered whether a vehicle defect might have contributed to the collision? While driver error appears to be a central factor in this case, mechanical issues cannot be ruled out without a proper forensic examination. A detailed inspection of all involved vehicles—including the Dodge Ram, Ford F-150, and Infiniti—may reveal whether failures in brakes, steering, or other systems played a role in the collision or its severity. Additionally, examining the Dodge Ram’s safety systems, such as seat belts and airbags, is critical to understanding why its occupant suffered fatal injuries.
Finally, has all relevant electronic data been collected? Modern vehicles are typically equipped with event data recorders (EDRs) that capture critical information such as speed, braking, and steering inputs leading up to a collision. This data can provide key insights into whether the actions of the Ford F-150 and Dodge Ram were consistent with driver input or indicative of mechanical issues. Nearby traffic cameras or dashcam footage, if available, might also shed light on traffic conditions and the drivers’ actions in the moments before the crash.
Accidents involving severe outcomes, such as fatalities and multiple injuries, require comprehensive investigations to uncover all contributing factors. By addressing these questions, investigators can work toward providing a clearer understanding of what happened and why. A thorough investigation is the least that can be done to ensure every possible factor is carefully examined. For the loved ones of James Siecko and for those injured in the collision, obtaining these answers is an essential step toward clarity and closure.
