Austin, TX — August 2, 2025, Javar Quinton sustained fatal injuries resulting from a car accident around 12:32 a.m. on Airport Boulevard.
Police officials report that the accident happened off the corner of the Airport Boulevard and East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
According to investigators, Javar Quinton was a pedestrian in the area of Airport Boulevard at the time. While there, a passing vehicle struck Javar Quinton. EMS transported Javar Quinton to a hospital in critical condition. Reports say Javar Quinton succumbed to his injuries on August 16.
Authorities did not report any charges or citations resulting from the accident. Investigations are ongoing.

One of my main concerns following any pedestrian accident is whether it got the attention it deserved. Unfortunately, even authorities sometimes move on too quickly because incidents like this tend to be seen as a low priority. A proper investigation should cover everything from distraction to road conditions to signage and lighting to possible emergencies. Short of that, something important could slip through the cracks. That’s why if it seems like authorities might be considering only surface-level details, it may be time for more thorough investigators to step in and pick up the slack.
