Javier Laso Killed in Train Accident off U.S. 77 in Refugio County, TX
Refugio County, TX — April 26, 2023, Javier Laso was fatally injured due to a train accident at around 1:22 p.m. along U.S. Highway 77.
Investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety said that the crash took place near the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and Quintana Road, just north of the intersection along southbound lanes of the highway.

Preliminary information provided by DPS officials says that a tractor-trailer was going along the highway when it attempted to make a right turn onto a private roadway. While doing so, it appears the tractor-trailer crossed paths with an oncoming train, and the train slammed into the semi.
The driver of the truck was identified in reports as 55-year-old Javier Laso. Laso was apparently thrown from the vehicle due to the collision, and his injuries ultimately proved fatal. No one else was said to be injured. Authorities have not yet released additional details about what factors may have contributed to the crash.
