Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
I certainly don't know more about this accident than what's publicly available. One thing that does stand out to me, though, is that one person in the vehicle was seriously injured while others apparently weren't. Now, there could be a perfectly reasonable explanation for this, but when vehicles rollover like this, the people riding in that vehicle tend to suffer similar injuries. If some people aren't seriously hurt while one person is, it's sometimes a red flag there was a defect with something like a seatbelt, an airbag, or even the structural integrity of the vehicle itself. At the very least, it's something an independent accident reconstruction would look into, even if it was just to rule it out. Did authorities ever investigate the possibility of a defect here?
