Mt. Pleasant, IA — March 21, 2023, John Thornton was killed and Michael Hines was injured in a single-vehicle truck accident around 11:10 a.m. on Old Hwy. 34 in Mt. Pleasant.
According to authorities, John Thornton’s and Michael Hines’s garbage truck was westbound on Old Hwy. 34 when the vehicle somehow veered off the roadway into a rollover accident. The truck reportedly came to a rest in a roadside ditch.
John Thornton suffered fatal injuries and Michael Hines was transported to a hospital. Officials have not released the severity of Michael Hines’s injuries.
The cause of this accident needs further investigation.
