John Tobias Killed in Motorcycle Accident in El Paso, TX
El Paso, TX — July 4, 2025, John Tobias was killed as the result of a motorcycle accident that happened around 1:20 a.m. along I-10.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened on the I-10 and Loop 375 interchange going toward southbound Loop 375.

Police said in preliminary statements that 30-year-old John Tobias was on a motorcycle along with other motorcyclists transferring from I-10 to southbound Loop 375. While doing so, investigators say that John Tobias's motorcycle went "in front of an unknown truck" before then somehow crashing into the center guardrail.
Due to the accident, John Tobias ultimately succumbed to fatal injuries. The reported truck did not remain at the scene, and authorities have not said if that vehicle is being considered a hit-and-run suspect. Investigations are ongoing at this time.
Commentary
With there being a group of motorcyclists involved here, I have to wonder why authorities haven't included more specific details about what happened here, including details about the truck that's been mentioned.
One of the concerns I have is that authorities are sometimes too quick to ignore motorcycle wrecks, as a lot of folks have a negative bias against motorcyclists. As a result, they may jump to conclusions rather than let the evidence speak for itself.
Are authorities working behind the scenes to ensure they know exactly what led to this crash? Or, could this be another example of investigators not giving a victim the attention they deserve just because that person was on a motorcycle?
