Johnny Hill Injured in Truck-Train Accident in Scottsbluff, NE
Scottsbluff, NE — April 7, 2023, Johnny Hill was injured when his truck was hit by a train around 7:55 a.m. on County Road 9 in Scottsbluff.
Authorities say the rail crossing, less than a mile away from Hwy. 26, has a signpost showing two train tracks cross at that point. However, reports indicate the crossing has no automated crossing arms or warning lights. The victim's semi-truck was traveling northbound over these tracks when a westbound BNSF Train struck the trailer.
Mr. Hill was transported to a hospital with reportedly non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials later released that both tracks had trains about to cross, and the southern track (the one Mr. Hill's truck would have crossed first) had an eastbound train on it.
Authorities have not said if the trains sounded any horns. There are no other updates at this time.
