Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Following any serious accident, one thing to keep in mind is that a lot of evidence is time sensitive. Electronic data from the vehicle, cellphone data, video footage, markings on the road, debris patterns, signs of vehicle defects or maintenance issues, etc. As such, it's important to know that authorities made an early, concerted effort to gather and preserve evidence. Otherwise, they may come to inaccurate or incomplete conclusions about what all led to the crash. If authorities can show they were thorough here, that would be good. Otherwise, there could be more to the story not getting the attention it deserves.
