Jorge Mendoza Ramirez Killed in Work Accident in Austin, TX
Austin, TX — April 9, 2022, Jorge Mendoza Ramirez was killed as the result of an electrical accident which happened at 12:30 p.m. on Holmes Court.
Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration discussed the incident in a summary report. They said the incident happened off Walnut Avenue in a residential area near North Pleasant Valley Road.

Details suggest that 21-year-old Jorge Mendoza Ramirez was digging at the time and began to use what officials said was a drop light that had "multiple safety deficiencies." The summary claims the issues included that the light had no light bulb guard, had a damaged power cord, and had no ground pin. It appears Mendoza Ramirez plugged in a chipping hammer into the drop light, electrocuting him. Mendoza Ramirez died as a result. No other injuries were reported.
At this time, additional details about the incident can't be confirmed at this time.
