Jose Cortes Killed in Work Accident in Channelview, TX
Channelview, TX — January 28, 2022, Jose Cortes was killed due to a falling object in a work accident which occurred along Sheldon Road.
Initial details about the fatal work accident were included in an investigation summary provided by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Their reports on the death of Jose Cortes say it happened at around 4:15 p.m. at 1212 Sheldon Road, the apparent address for the company listed in the OSHA report, Tubular Services.

According to the OSHA investigation summary, 27-year-old Jose Cortes was working on hydrotesting a steel pipe joint. The pipe was said to be pressurized at the time when the plug on the pipe somehow failed. This caused the pipe to strike Cortes, resulting in fatal injuries. No one else was said to be hurt.
