Jose Davila Huerta Killed in Work Accident in Crockett, TX
Crockett, TX — April 9, 2025, Jose Davila Huerta was killed as the result of a work accident that happened off of Dobbs Street.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration released an initial inspection summary online. It shows the accident happened on the south end of town South Fourth Street and Loop 304.
There aren't specific details available at this time. The cause of the accident which resulted in the death of 24-year-old Jose Rodolfo Davila Huerta is unconfirmed. OSHA listed two alleged "serious" violations and recommended a penalty.
Right now, OSHA lists the case status as "closed."

It's unclear what ultimately happened here or what solutions, if any, OSHA landed on. But even if efforts from OSHA are all wrapped up, that isn't likely the beginning and end of the story. I tell folks all the time that the priorities of OSHA and the needs of a family don't often overlap.
Families are usually left to navigate the most complex work fatality laws in the country on their own. There isn't always a guaranteed path through that legal maze, which is why many families need outside help to get them through. Maybe the situation here was more straightforward, but that's not something I'd ever take for granted.
In my experience handling Texas work fatality cases for over 30 years, the OSHA investigations rarely do more than scratch the surface. They're usually just the start of what needs to be done for a worker's family to see a proper resolution.
