Jose Hernandez Patlan Killed in Pedestrian Car Accident on Lamar Blvd. in Austin, TX
UPDATE (April 9, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify some of the details concerning what occurred leading up to and during this accident. According to these reports, 40-year-old Jose Hernandez Patlan was on foot attempting to cross Lamar Boulevard from west to east in the vicinity north of Longspur Boulevard. At the same time, a Chevy Colorado pickup truck was traveling northbound in the right-most lane of Lamar Boulevard, with a second vehicle traveling in the lane directly to its left. Officials indicate that Patlan narrowly missed being struck by the other vehicle, but a collision from the pickup truck could not be avoided. Patlan incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the accident. The investigation continues.
Austin, TX — March 2, 2024, one person was killed in a pedestrian versus car accident at approximately 10:30 p.m. along North Lamar Boulevard.
According to authorities, the accident took place along North Lamar Boulevard in the vicinity of the West Longspur Boulevard intersection.

The causal factors that led to the incident are still unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an adult pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle. Life-saving measures were attempted by emergency personnel, but were ultimately unsuccessful as the victim was declared deceased at the scene of the accident. No other injuries have been reported.
