Jose Reyes Garza Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Cameron County, TX
Cameron County, TX — March 30, 2023, Jose Reyes Garza was killed following a pedestrian accident at around 9:02 p.m. along Highway 100.
Investigators released initial details about the crash, which their details suggest happen off the corner of the Highway 100 and Madison Street intersection.

According to preliminary information from authorities, 66-year-old Jose Reyes Garza was walking at the time and reportedly attempted to cross Highway 100 going southbound. While Garza was on westbound lanes, a Dodge Journey did not avoid Garza in time, hitting him in the roadway.
As a result of the collision, Garza sustained injuries which ultimately proved fatal. No other injuries were mentioned by authorities. According to current information, it appears the vehicle involved in the fatal accident stopped at the scene. Authorities do not currently report any charges or citations stemming from the incident. Additional details are pending further investigations.
