Jose Saul Garcia Killed, 2 Injured in Alleged Drunk Driver Accident in Dallas, TX
Dallas County, TX — November 3, 2024, Jose Garcia was killed and two others were injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 7:30 a.m. on State Loop 12.
According to authorities, four people—a 22-year-old man, 31-year-old Jose Saul Garcia, an 18-year-old man, and a 25-year-old man—were traveling in a northbound Honda Accord on State Loop 12 in the vicinity of the Hoyle Avenue intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, apparently due to the driver allegedly behind under the influence of alcohol, the vehicle failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It was subsequently involved in a single-vehicle collision. Garcia suffered reportedly fatal injuries over the course of the accident. The two other passengers—the 18-year-old and the 25-year-old—both sustained serious injuries, as well, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Crashes like this highlight the devastating consequences of driving under the influence. Authorities allege that the driver of the Honda Accord was intoxicated at the time of the crash, which, if true, raises critical questions about how and why this situation occurred.
One important aspect of the investigation should focus on where the driver obtained alcohol before the crash. Texas law prohibits bars, restaurants, or other alcohol providers from serving someone who is obviously intoxicated. If the driver had been drinking at an establishment that ignored clear signs of intoxication and continued serving them, that establishment could share responsibility for the crash under Texas dram shop law.
Dram shop laws exist to hold alcohol providers accountable when their reckless service contributes to harm. These laws not only help victims and their families seek justice but also encourage businesses to prioritize safe and responsible alcohol service. By addressing unlawful alcohol service, communities can take steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.
For the families and individuals affected by this crash, getting the full truth is essential. Investigating whether an alcohol provider contributed to this incident is a key step toward ensuring accountability at every level. By enforcing these standards, Texas can work toward reducing preventable crashes and making its roads safer for everyone.
