Due to the crash, Joseph Lewis had serious injuries. Details suggest the driver of the Buick left the scene. It's unclear if authorities ever located the driver.
Commentary by Michael Grossman
Usually when authorities have a driver's vehicle in their custody, it's just a matter of time before the driver is found. Hopefully progress was made behind the scenes to resolve this matter. I've seen hit-and-runs go for quite a while without being solved, but I've also seen cases considered to be cold resolved because the victims and families involved never gave up trying to put things right.
