Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
One of my primary concerns with any motorcycle wreck is whether or not it's getting a fair, unbiased investigation. The reality is a lot of folks have a negative view of motorcyclists, and even authorities sometimes fail to put aside their own personal biases when investigating a crash.
That's why crashes like this often fare better in the hands of independent investigators. In my experience, investigators simply prioritize letting the evidence speak for itself. Even uncommon possible factors, such as vehicle defects, will get attention so that nothing important slips through the cracks.
If authorities have been careful not to jump to conclusions here, that's good. However, it's not something I'd ever take for granted.
