Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
As serious as it is to see OSHA alleged multiple serious violations following a fatal work accident, their efforts aren't likely the beginning and end of the story. OSHA is an important part of worker safety, without a doubt. But in terms of families seeing accountability for an accident, they're often just one piece of the puzzle. Texas has uniquely challenging work fatality law, and it can require families to have a mountain of evidence and significant legal tools backing them up to get to a proper resolution. So if steps were taken here beyond just relying on OSHA, that would be good to hear. However, there are a lot of families who lose a loved one on the job that find out later that their situation never really got the attention it needed.
