Commentary by Michael Grossman
One of the challenges with car accidents people rarely consider is that not all of them get equally thorough accident reconstructions. That can vary from department to department, as officers may not be given the time and resources they need for a proper accident investigation. As such, it can be helpful for families to follow up early on after a serious crash.
If it seems like authorities are looking into all possible factors—even unusual ones—then that may be a sign they took the investigations seriously. If all of their answers come up short, though, the accident may need another look from experienced independent professionals. Either way, the end result should be the families involved knowing they're getting the whole story.
