Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With any serious crash, there's going to be a concern about how authorities are treating the investigation. Unfortunately, not every crash is taken as seriously as folks would want. This can result in authorities missing important details or jumping to conclusions. That's why it can be helpful to ask key questions after a serious crash.
Are investigators dedicating time and resources to the investigations? Are they looking into vehicle defects? Were there nearby security cameras that captured the incident on video? Was alcohol a factor? Was there a medical emergency? Did airbags and seatbelts go off?
Likely or not, a proper investigation should be able to confirm or rule out these possible factors. If victims and families ever feel that isn't happening, it can be their sign that a second set of eyes may be more helpful.
