Kimberly Barnhart Killed, William Barnhart Injured in Truck Accident in Polk County, IA
Polk County, IA — October 22, 2023, Kimberly Barnhart was killed and William Barnhart was injured in a truck accident at 1:38 a.m. along I-80.
According to reports, the victims were traveling along the eastbound lanes of I-80 just east of the Merle Hay Road exit in a Kia Optima when the accident occurred.

For unknown reasons, the Kia collided with the rear end of a semi-truck trailer. The collision caused the car to flip and come to rest on its roof in the center lane of the freeway.
Authorities state that 40-year-old Kimberly Barnhart was killed as a result of the crash, having been pronounced dead at the scene. 51-year-old William Barnhart was transferred to a local hospital in order to receive treatment for his injuries incurred during the incident.
The cause of the accident is still unknown; the incident is remains under investigation. No further details are available at this point in time.
