UPDATE (December 3, 2024): Details from authorities show that the driver involved in the accident that killed Linda Moreno is facing a charge for intoxication manslaughter. Authorities did not specify if they believe the alleged intoxicant was alcohol or drugs. Believe it or not, this can make a big difference for victims and families affected by a a crash like this. Specifically, that’s because a lot of crashes caused by drunk driving involve negligent alcohol providers who unlawfully over-served the intoxicated driver.
That may sound unusual to folks, but that’s just because it’s not often seen as a high priority for the authorities. They may focus entirely on an intoxicated driver, but a negligent alcohol provider who broke the law and over-served that driver, therefore contributing to a resulting accident, gets to slip by without so much as a slap on the wrist. That’s why it’s important for people to understand that Texas law allows for negligent alcohol providers to potentially face criminal investigations, fines, and liability when they contribute to deadly accidents.
With that in mind, are authorities taking steps here to ensure the victims and families involved are actually getting the answers they deserve?
