Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
This certainly doesn’t appear to be a typical accident by any means. Not only do authorities say one vehicle turned in front of a motorcyclist, they say a third vehicle fled the scene. Such chaotic events could create additional hurdles for a police department that likely has a lot on its plate to begin with.
Accidents like this are one of the main reasons I talk about independent accident reconstructionists so much. It isn’t that authorities can’t do good work. It’s simply that when things get messy, victims and families deserve to know that no important details are going to slip through the cracks. By bringing in a fresh set of eyes dedicated to letting the evidence speak for itself, there can be more certainty that nothing will be overlooked. I see no reason right now why this crash would be an exception to that.
