Margaret Peterson Killed in Garbage Truck Accident on Willard Street in Stillwater, MN
UPDATE (May 2, 2023): Authorities have identified the woman killed in the garbage truck accident as 81-year-old Margaret Peterson. Current details suggest Peterson may have been bringing cookies to the driver of the garbage truck when the incident occurred. This and other details are unconfirmed pending further investigations.
Stillwater, MN — April 25, 2023, one person was killed due to a garbage truck accident on 7:45 a.m. along Willard Street West.
Investigators said that the incident happened in the 900 block of Willard Street West, which appears to be just off Greeley Street South and William Street South.

According to initial details from authorities, a pedestrian was walking in the area and was on the roadway for unspecified reasons. It's unclear if the pedestrian was crossing or walking along the road. While doing so, authorities believe that a Waste Management garbage truck hit the pedestrian.
As a result, the victim, unidentified at this time, died due to the collision. No other injuries have been reported at this time. Investigators also make no mention of potential charges or citations. Additional details regarding the events leading up to the collision are unavailable at this time, as well.
