Maria Rodriguez, One Injured, One Killed in Car Accident on I-45 in Freestone County, TX
Freestone County, TX — April 8, 2023, Maria Rodriguez and another were injured and one person was killed in a car accident around 11:05 p.m. on Interstate 45 in Freestone County.
Officials report the victims were headed south in Ms. Rodriguez's Hyundai Santa Fe when rear-ended by a Buick Enclave. The collision forced Ms. Rodriguez's Santa Fe to leave the road in a rollover, and the crash forced the Encorce off the road in a sideways slide. Both vehicles reportedly came to a stop facing northwest in a ditch on the southwest side of the highway.
Ms. Rodriguez and the front seat passenger in the Santa Fe were transported to a hospital with reportedly serious injuries. A rear-seat passenger in the Santa Fe suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the accident scene.
The driver of the Encore was reportedly uninjured and attempted to leave the crash site on foot before being detained.
Police recommended charging the Encoure driver with Driving While Intoxicated.
