Mario Cardenas Killed in Car Accident on North Fwy. in Houston, TX
Houston, TX — April 6, 2024, Mario Cardenas was killed as the result of a single-vehicle car accident at around 4:30 a.m. on the North Freeway.
Details from Houston Police officials put the scene of the crash along the 10200 block of the I-45 service road, near the intersection with West Road.

According to police investigators, 34-year-old Mario Cardenas was in a Maserati Quattroporte going northbound along the interstate service road. Due to events unclear, the vehicle left the roadway while making a turn, and it ultimately crashed into a concrete pillar. Cardenas died in the accident. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident.
Authorities haven't been clear on whether or not there were witnesses to this crash. That could be cause for concern if authorities aren't dedicating the time or tools to let the evidence speak for itself.
Folks tend to assume authorities have crack CSI teams that look into accidents. That's generally not how it works. Usually, it's an officer (who typically rushed to move on to other responsibilities) taking statements at the scene. Without those statements to rely on, an officer might be left to simply make their best guess at what happened. That's why a lot of the calls our firm gets from families still looking for answers are about single-vehicle wrecks where the victim isn't around to tell their side of the story.
That said, officials may have ensured this crash is in good hands already. It just wouldn't be anywhere near the first time if they let it slip through the cracks.
