Martha Borrego Wadhwani Killed in Pedestrian Accident in San Benito, TX
San Benito, TX — April 19, 2023, Martha Borrego Wadhwani was killed due to an accident where a vehicle struck her along Expressway 83.
Officials said that the incident took place in the area of the expressway (I-69) and Sam Houston Street. The exact time of the incident was not specified.

At this time, investigators say they believe that 59-year-old Martha Borrego Wadhwani was on foot along the northbound lanes of the expressway. She may have been attempting to retrieve personal belongings from the roadway, authorities speculate. While Wadhwani was in the roadway, it appears a vehicle struck her.
Emergency services came to the scene and found Wadhwani along the service road. Wadhwani succumbed to fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Police said that the driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigations. It does not appear there are any pending charges at this time.
