Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

With the victim not here to give their side of the story, investigations need to be as thorough as possible to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks. That should include even potentially unlikely factors, like vehicle defects, road design issues, medical emergencies, etc. On top of that, the involvement of two commercials parked on the roadway can present additional hurdles. It’s important authorities can determine why the trucks were there, whether they were marked according to official guidelines, and whether or not them being on the side of the road contributed to the accident. If authorities don’t take the time to consider all of these potential factors, they might let important evidence slip through the cracks.
