San Antonio, TX — March 23, 2025, a toddler was seriously injured due to a near drowning accident at around 3:30 p.m. along Culebra Road.
Officials say that the accident took place at the Mira Vista Ranch apartments off Culebra Road and Mira Vista, just off Callaghan Road.
According to investigators, a 2-year-old girl was found in a pool at the apartment complex. She was taken to the hospital where she was reportedly in critical condition. Her current condition is unclear.
Right now, the factors leading up to the accident are unavailable.

As we get into warmer months, I get a lot more calls from people asking about apartment complex pools and what responsibility the property has in case of an accident. Simply put, property owners owe a basic duty to secure the pool so kids can’t wander in. That means having a fence, having a gate that latches properly, making sure the fence is tall enough and not easy to climb, that there aren’t nearby objects that can help a child climb the fence, and so on. Hopefully investigators are working to document the pool where this happened so that if there are issues, they can be called out and addressed.
