Motorcyclist Killed in Truck Accident on State Route 347 near Maricopa, AZ
Phoenix, AZ — January 15, 2026, a motorcyclist was killed as the result of a commercial truck accident at around 5:00 a.m. along State Route 347.
Authorities said that the crash happened on John Wayne Parkway at Cement Plant Road, which is between Chandler and Maricopa in the Gila River Indian Community.
According to officials, the vehicles collided on northbound lanes. Additional details are unavailable.

Regardless of what happened here, my hope is simply that the investigations are thorough and fair. The issue with motorcycle wrecks is a lot of people have a negative bias against riders, so they just assume the motorcyclist did something wrong. That can lead to mistakes.
A proper investigation isn't about what "probably" happened or even what authorities' "gut" tells them. It's about what the evidence says, and I too often see investigations where officials put their own bias before the evidence. Hopefully authorities here are being careful to ensure the victim's loved ones get the full story. However, it's not unreasonable for people to feel more comfortable having another set of experienced eyes look things over.
