One Killed, Deputy Braelyn Dozier Injured in Truck Accident in Troup County, GA
Troup County, GA — April 6, 2023, one person was killed and Deputy Braelyn Dozier was injured in a truck accident around 5:30 a.m. on I-85 in Troup County.
According to authorities, a box truck merged in front of Mr. Dozier's patrol car forcing his vehicle to leave the road, hit the median, reenter the road, and roll over several times. Because of the initial accident, a semi-truck began to slow and was rear-ended by a Toyota Corolla that was purportedly unable to stop in time.
Officer Dozier was reportedly ejected from his patrol vehicle but was pulled from the road by a truck driver and therefore out of danger when the second crash occurred. The Toyota Corolla driver was fatally injured. Officer Dozier was reportedly transported to a hospital with multiple injuries.
It is unclear if the semi-truck that the Corolla collided with is the same truck whose driver pulled the deputy from the road.
There are no further updates at this time.
