One Killed, Three Injured in Dump Truck Accident in Hillsborough County, FL
Tampa, FL — September 20, 2023, a person was killed, and three were injured in a dump truck crash at East Columbus Drive and Interstate 4 West in Hillsborough County, Tampa, FL.
Authorities say that on September 20, a fatal accident occurred when a vehicle and a dump truck collided in Hillsborough County for unknown reasons. According to reports, the crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. under an overpass at Interstate 4 West and East Columbus Drive. Investigators say a Scion proceeded through a red light and was struck by a dump truck in the intersection. Police have not released the cause of the crash at this time.
Officials confirmed that a Scion passenger suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Sources say two other Scion passengers and the driver were transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
No other injuries were reported. Police say the Scion driver faces DUI manslaughter charges, but authorities are still investigating.
