Oscar Canales Jr., 1 Injured in Car Accident in Corpus Christi, TX
Corpus Christi, TX — May 25, 2023, Oscar Canales Jr. and another driver were injured following a car accident at around 6:49 p.m. along Staples Street.
Investigators released public information which shows that the crash happened in the area of the Staples Street and La Costa Drive intersection.

According to officials, 69-year-old Oscar Canales Jr. was said to be the driver of a Ford F-150 that was going northbound along Staples. After Canales went into the center turn lane, a Volkswagen Jetta that was going southbound entered the turn lane, as well. That vehicle crashed head-on into Canales's vehicle.
As a result of the collision, Canales had injuries described as non-incapacitating. The driver of the Volkswagen reportedly had incapacitating injuries. No other injuries were reported. Officials said following investigations that the driver of the Volkswagen was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. There were recommendations for DWI charges.
