Oscar Garcia Killed in Work Accident in Kemah, TX
Kemah, TX — October 26, 2022, Oscar Garcia sustained fatal injuries following a work accident that happened at 2:00 p.m. along Harris Avenue.
Preliminary details released by Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials indicate that the location of the fatal incident was 805 Harris Avenue, which appears to be the address for Courtyard at Marriott Houston Kemah off of Highway 146 and Marina Bay Drive.

Authorities reported that 67-year-old Oscar Garcia was working with a crew that was said to be transporting boxes from a crate to the nearby building. In a series of events unclear, multiple boxes fell and landed on Garcia, apparently resulting in crushing injuries.
Garcia died due to the accident. No other employees were listed in the OSHA summary. Their summary shows there was at least one Serious type rule violation allegedly found by OSHA investigators. There was a listed fine in the summary, but whether or not there was a final fine issued is not clear at this time.
