Walker County, TX — October 21, 2023, Richard Carrington Jr. was injured as the result of a car accident at around 1:15 a.m. along Interstate 45.
Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened along the northbound frontage road at the intersection of F.M. 1374, south of Huntsville.

According to officials, 25-year-old Richard Carrington Jr. was in a Dodge Challenger said to be going eastbound on F.M. 1374. While crossing the I-45 frontage road, it appears a northbound Volkswagen Jetta failed to yield at the stop sign, and Carrington’s vehicle t-boned the Volkswagen.
As a result of the collision, statements from authorities described Carrington’s injuries as serious. There were no other reported injuries. Additional details can’t be confirmed right now.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
There’s a particular factor here that frankly doesn’t sit right with me. If someone were to describe a crash where a car t-bones another car that was pulling through a stop sign, and one person was more seriously injured than the other, my expectation 99% of the time would be that the driver of the t-boned vehicle was the person who got the worst of it.
Here, though, not only was the opposite true, but the people in the t-boned vehicle apparently weren’t hurt at all. So what happened here? Is there a perfectly reasonable explanation authorities simply failed to mention? Or, could this be a situation where something in the victim’s vehicle meant to keep them safe failed to function properly? If authorities haven’t worked to address these concerns behind the scenes already, there may be some serious issues slipping through the cracks here.
