Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Currently, the cause of the crash can’t be confirmed without further details. I know some will just assume the driver doing the rear-ending absolutely must have done something wrong, but that’s just not true.

It’s an all-too-tired myth that the rear driver in a rear-end collision is automatically responsible. That’s just not the case. There are numerous factors that can cause a rear-end collision which a driver isn’t able to avoid.

Now, I’m not saying who is or isn’t to blame for this crash. That’s not my place. I just feel people need to be reminded that these preliminary reports rarely tell the whole story. It’s best to let the evidence speak for itself.
