Ronda Banks Injured in Car Accident on U.S. 290 in Manor, TX
UPDATE: Authorities identified the victim injured in the accident as 53-year-old Ronda Banks.
Travis County, TX — June 27, 2024, a Houston woman was injured as the result of a multi-vehicle car accident at around 3:03 a.m. along U.S. Highway 290.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened at the intersection of U.S. 290 and F.M. 973.

Preliminary details about the accident say that a 53-year-old Houston woman was in a Honda CR-V on westbound U.S. 290. The Honda was behind an 18-wheeler when a Ford Flex approaching from behind reportedly failed to control speed and rear-ended the Honda. This pushed the Honda into the back of the 18-wheeler.
Due to the collision, the Houston woman was seriously injured. Other injuries weren't confirmed. Right now, additional factors about the accident remain unconfirmed.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People tend to assume that rear-end collisions are open-and-shut because they tend to happen for common reasons like speeding, distraction, or following too closely. But there can sometimes be complex contributing factors that require more thorough investigations.
For example, a lot of early morning wrecks like this involve alcohol. I've handled hundreds of alcohol-related accident cases, and investigations may show that the at-fault driver was unlawfully over-served by a local bar. That means the driver and the negligent alcohol provider may be responsible for their role in the accident.
That sort of situation would require a lot more than a typical, preliminary investigation from authorities. So while there may not be much more to this story, it's important that the evidence has the final say. If officials haven't considered all of that evidence, then perhaps this crash needs to be in the hands of more experienced independent investigators.
