Rueben Larry Killed in Truck Accident in Texarkana, TX
Texarkana, TX — October 10, 2023, Rueben Micah Larry was killed as the result of a truck accident at around 6:39 a.m. along Buchanan Road.
Preliminary information about the fatal crash says that it occurred at the intersection of Buchanan Road (F.M. 558) and Wallace Drive.
Officials said that 31-year-old Rueben Larry was on a Harley-Davidson going southbound on Buchanan. Up ahead at Wallace, authorities say a northbound Dodge truck failed to yield making a left turn, entering the path of Larry's motorcycle. The bike crashed into the right side of the truck, ejecting Larry.

Due to the collision, Larry sustained fatal injuries. There were no other confirmed injuries. Authorities mentioned that a witness saw both vehicles leading up to the crash, that both had their headlights on, and that they believe the Dodge truck did not use its turn signal.

Considering how many times I've handled cases where police didn't mention anything about witnesses, I'm at least glad to see them be more thorough here. But whether or not those witnesses are able to back up their testimony is another problem entirely that authorities don't often account for.
For example, I handled a wrongful death case a while back where someone ran a vehicle into oncoming traffic, causing a fatal head-on collision. That driver then fled the scene, but fortunately a brave couple followed the runaway driver long enough to write down their information. They went to the authorities with that information, but somehow authorities simply failed to follow up or record their contact information.
As such, when the victims' loved ones hired us, we didn't even know these folks existed. It was only because we published ads looking for witnesses that they were able to come forward and help identify the driver responsible for the fatal crash.
Obviously, there doesn't appear to be runaway driver here, but witnesses are always a vital piece of the puzzle when it comes to holding people accountable for fatal mistakes. If authorities don't retain the ability to contact those witnesses so they can verify their initial statements, it can throw a wrench into the works and ruin a family's opportunity to see justice done for their suffering. Hopefully the fact authorities were thorough enough to include witness testimony in their initial reports is a sign they're dedicating ample time and resources to getting a proper conclusion to this awful series of events.
