Two Injured in Runaway Truck Accident on W. 3500 South in West Valley City, UT
West Valley City, UT — October 10, 2023, two people sustained injuries as the result of a truck mechanical failure accident around noon on W. 3500 South.
According to preliminary information released by West Valley City Police officials, the crash occurred off the intersection of West 3500 South and South 6400 West.

It appears that two women were driving separate vehicles through the intersection at the time. While they did so, authorities believe a dump truck going northbound experienced a mechanical issue, ran a red light, and hit both women's vehicles.
News reports seem to be conflicting, as some have said the women from "both vehicles" were taken to a hospital while others say the truck driver and one of the car drivers were the injured parties. Either way, it appears the injuries were serious.
Right now, the nature of the reported mechanical issues remains unclear as investigations continue.
