3 Injured in Semi-truck Accident on I-85 in Gaston County, NC
Gaston County, NC — October 19, 2023, a father and his two children were injured in a semi-truck rear-end accident at 4:00 a.m. along I-85.
According to reports, a 49-year-old father along with his two children—one age 11 and the other age 13—were traveling in the southbound lanes of I-85 a at mile marker 27, just a few miles west of Charlotte, NC, when their minivan ran into the back of a semi-truck.
For unknown reasons, the semi-truck had been stopped in the lane of traffic and did not have it's hazard lights activated. The minivan was trapped under the rear of the semi; the man and his children had to be extricated from the wreckage upon the arrival of emergency medical services.
Authorities say that the father and one of his children were transported to one hospital, while the other was transported to a different hospital, all having incurred serious injuries as a result of the accident.
The driver of the semi-truck is facing various charges in connection with this incident, which is still under investigation. No further details are available at this time.
