4 Injured in Tour Bus Accident on I-85 in Cabarrus County, NC
Cabarrus County, NC — October 20, 2023, four people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident involving a tour bus at 1:24 p.m. along I-85.
According to reports, a tour bus transporting the Barton College cross-country team was traveling in the southbound lanes of I-85 just east of Kannapolis when the incident occorred.
Allegedly, the driver of the tour bus was traveling at unsafe speeds, resulting in an accident involving multiple other vehicles.
Authorities state that four people were transferred to local medical facilities for treatment of injuries incurred during the accident, one of whom was a student athlete passenger on the tour bus, itself. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, but charges against the driver of the tour bus are reportedly pending. No further details are available at this time.
