One Injured in Tractor-Trailer Hit-and-run Accident on I-77 in Cornelius, NC
Cornelius, NC — March 25, 2023, one person was injured due to a tractor-trailer accident early Saturday on I-77 in Cornelius.
Officials said that the incident happened in the area of I-77 exit 28 and 30. A driver in a Dodge Charger was going along the interstate when a crash somehow occurred. The driver apparently got out of the car and was at the passenger side retrieving items. While doing so, a tractor-trailer apparently pinned the driver in the car, then left the scene of the crash. Authorities say they later found that truck in Surry County. The driver of the Dodge sustained injuries requiring air transportation.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It's good to hear authorities located the truck they believe was involved. Considering the fact this resulted in the victim being pinned, it seems unlikely this would have happened without the truck driver realizing they hit someone. If that's true, then why did they leave the scene? Did they have something specific to hide, such as warrants or a suspended license? Did they work for a company that knew about any outstanding issues yet failed to address them? This all may just be a matter of a single reckless driver, but it could also be there are extenuating issues that still need to be addressed.
