Blackwell, OK — March 14, 2025, six people were injured due to a truck accident that took place along Interstate Highway 35.
According to authorities, the accident took place on I.H. 35 in the vicinity north of Hubbard Road.

Officials indicate that visibility in the area at the time of the wreck was apparently low due to a dust storm. A chain reaction crash later followed due to the first.
A total of six people were hurt, according to reports. Additional information pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When a chain-reaction crash begins with an 18-wheeler rear-ending a pickup, the key question isn’t just what happened, but why it happened. In my experience handling truck accident cases, wrecks like this rarely occur without multiple contributing factors that need to be examined.
Why didn’t the truck stop in time? Professional drivers are trained to anticipate traffic slowdowns and maintain safe following distances, so investigators need to determine why this one failed to do so. Was the driver distracted? Following too closely? Investigators should review dashcam footage, black box data, and cell phone records to identify potential causes.
Was the truck traveling too fast for conditions? Large trucks require significantly more stopping distance than passenger vehicles, and failing to adjust speed for traffic conditions can make a crash unavoidable. If the truck was moving too fast when visibility was reduced, that could have been a major factor in the wreck. Investigators should examine speed data, braking distances, and company policies regarding driving in hazardous conditions.
Did the trucking company play a role? Trucking companies are responsible for ensuring their drivers are properly trained to handle unexpected hazards. If this driver was inexperienced, under pressure to meet unrealistic deadlines, or operating a truck without proper safety equipment, investigators need to uncover those details. Reviewing company policies, safety records, and prior violations could provide insight into whether broader issues contributed to the crash.
Was the truck in proper working condition? Brake failures, steering malfunctions, or other mechanical issues could have prevented the driver from stopping in time. Investigators should examine maintenance logs, inspection records, and black box data to determine whether equipment failure contributed to the wreck.
At the end of the day, the most important thing is finding answers. Even if it takes an independent investigation to gather the right evidence, it’s critical to examine every factor to ensure those affected by the crash get the clarity they deserve.
