1 Injured in Truck Train Accident on C.R. 20 near Exeter, NE
Fillmore County, NE — March 1, 2024, one person was injured in a truck versus train accident at approximately 10:00 a.m. along County Road 20.
According to authorities, an 18-wheeler hauling fertilizer was traveling on C.R. 20 in the vicinity north of U.S. Highway 6 when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the 18-wheeler attempted to cross the railroad tracks at an unsafe time. This resulted in a collision between the 18-wheeler and a westbound train. Between 15 and 20 train cars were reportedly derailed during the course of the incident.
One person who had been crewmember on the train incurred suspected minor injuries as a result of the accident and was transported to a local hospital in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
