Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
The Challenger driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. If that's true, that may not make things as open-and-shut as folks would think. This is because a lot of drunk driving wrecks involve an accomplice authorities tend to overlooked: a negligent alcohol provider.
Simply put, alcohol providers who unlawfully over-serve customers can potentially face criminal investigations, fines, license suspensions, and liability if people get hurt. Too often, though, they slip under the radar because authorities and the public put all of their focus on the drunk drivers. They certainly need to be held accountable, but alcohol providers allowed to misbehave like that are only going to continue being reckless until more people get hurt. So if that's what happened here, it's important there are steps to bring those mistakes to light.
